About Real County Animal Rescue-Shelter

WHERE OUR MISSION IS TO RESCUE AND OUR DREAM IS THAT ONE DAY WE'LL NO LONGER HAVE TO...

The Rescue began in April 2025 with a few interested individuals to discuss how we could help the overpopulation and homelessness of so many cats and dogs in the county. We created the name, elected a board, and began having fundraising events.

The mission of Real County Animal Rescue-Shelter is to develop strong community partnerships to promote responsible pet ownership. Our current priority is to spay and neuter the feral population in Real County. To a very limited extent, due to our lack of resources, we assist with rescues, fosters and adoptions.

Our future plan is to build the resources needed to rescue, adopt and foster.

We formed a 501(c)(3) corporation, created a website, a Facebook page and opened a bank account. We became official!

At present, we are working to spay/neuter feral cat colonies in Camp Wood and in Leakey.

How do I adopt a pet?

At Real County Animal Rescue-Shelter, our goal is to match homeless pets with loving, caring owners. We are committed to facilitating adoptions that result in enriched lives for both the animals and their new owners. With this in mind, we want to make the adoption process simple, quick, and fun! Our adoption steps are outlined on our adoption page, but feel free to contact a member of our team at info@realcountyanimalrescue.com if you have any questions.

Thank you for considering adoption!
